Premiere: Listen to Ed Thomas' new song "Away," and find out about his new EP.

Previous Bondax and Chase & Status collaborator Ed Thomas impressed us with his first two solo tracks, “On My Own” and the gorgeous “Hurt,” marking himself out as an an artist to look out for in his own right. Today, we can announce that he has a debut EP on the way, entitled Outlaws, and we are happy to share the premiere of a new song, “Away.”

I’ve been really lucky being able to work with such great artists over the last year. In doing so I was singing a lot, and developing songs that I felt I wanted to sing myself. It’s been a pretty natural progression. I remember listening to Marvin Gaye as a kid, and thinking ‘I wana do what he does.’ so i guess its been a while in the making.

“Away” sees Ed Thomas really shooting for the stars with a huge chorus and pounding, stadium-ready production, while he also reveals a little more of himself to us through a shadowed photo, the first we’ve seen of his face. Ed told us, “I think a bit of mystery is a good thing. Some artists are able to draw you in with the music alone, Daft Punk are a pretty good example, they have been putting out brilliant music for ages, and if I walked past them in Tesco’s I’d have no idea who they were (providing the weren’t in full robot get up!). I find that pretty interesting. On the other hand, I think it can be bad if artists try and make themselves too mysterious. I’ve come across some acts who only make there music available via a cassette purchased from a website. I think thats a bit too much mystery for me, and can sometimes turn people off.”
