Lana Del Rey appeared to confirm today that The Black Keys‘ Dan Auerbach is the producer of her forthcoming album, Ultraviolence. Bearing the caption, “Me and Dan Auerbach are excited to present you Ultraviolence,” a photo posted on Del Rey’s Instagram and Twitter showed the retro diva sitting comfortably in Auerbach’s lap.

While her words aren’t an outright admission of Auerbach’s role with the album, Auerbach has produced numerous albums before, leading to speculation that he’ll be playing the same part for Ultraviolence. His past production discography includes JEFF the Brotherhood, Michael Kiwanuka, and Hanni El Khatib. In 2013, he won a Grammy for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical for his work on the Black Keys’ El Camino.

Given The Black Keys’ bare bones approach to rock n’ roll, Auerbach seems like a strange fit for Del Rey. Perhaps she’s seeking to address the criticisms that called her previous album, Born to Die, overwrought and superficial? Will Auerbach be able to add some bite to her sound?  We can only wait and see. In any case, things certainly just got a lot more interesting.

Ultraviolence is set to be released in 2014. The exact date is unknown.
