SOHN had a great 2013, and is all set for an even better year this year, with his debut album scheduled to come out on 4AD and Spring tour dates just announced. To accompany the North American dates, which run all through May, the London-born but Vienna-based musician has shared an “unplugged” (SOHN is triggering samples of his voice, so there’s definitely electricity involved…) version of a new song “Tempest.”
The song is as beautiful as we’ve come to expect from the talented singer and producer, and the setting matches that. Filmed in 19th Century ballroom Casino Baumgarten in Vienna, SOHN’s performance was filmed by Andreas Waldschuetz, who shared the following:
I’ve known SOHN for a few years, and I wanted to capture a performance that is as intimate and delicate as the track itself. My aim was to make it feel like you, the viewer, are standing in the same room with SOHN. My main inspiration comes from surrealism; I love to change perspectives of things, working with different tools and gadgets to destroy a picture. Everything you see in the video happened on set, there were no special effects added in post-production.
