Rubee Rayne’s voice was not what I was expecting when I first opened the email I got with her music. Her look is edgy, but when you hit play on “Breathe,” you’re struck by a sound that’s surprisingly in contrast to that. And in today’s musical realm, that’s refreshing. Her vocals are unique, soft and delicate while still being undoubtedly soulful. On “Breathe,” they’re accentuated nicely with the melodic, hazy production from the talented El Train. Rubee’s got a few other equally enjoyable tracks on her Soundcloud, but you can grab a copy of “Breathe” for free below.
