There have been quite a few high-profile remixes of various songs from Grizzly Bear‘s excellent Shields recently; but leave it to ethereal crooner Baths to make something more than just a remix. Just like Diplo before him, Will Wiesenfeld has made “Will Calls” entirely his own.
Sounding more like an overdue collaboration with Grizzly Bear’s lead vocalist Ed Droste than a remix, the glitchy track would’ve fit right at home on Baths’ most recent record, Obsidian. The gorgeous “ooohs” and whistling synths maintain the right balance of gloomy and syrupy, resulting in a wonderfully cute remix. Fingers crossed this isn’t the last time these paths cross.
