Budo moves easily between original music and remixes. His 2013 The Finger and The Moon album is an expansion of his history as a producer for artists like Atmosphere and Macklemore.

It’s the dark, heartsick R&B embraced by the 21st century, with more than a few tablespoons of dance music. Throbbing beats and crackling synths often cut through just when you thought you had the song pegged for a mope—not unlike Budo’s latest work, a remix of Daughter’s “Youth.” He’s able to bring something fresh and unique to a song that has been remixed more than its fair share.
