When we first heard from them at the end of 2011, London duo Alpines seemed to be working in much the same hushed, atmospheric pop lane as The xx  (Alpines were even describing their sound as “night pop,” a totally apt description for both their and The xx’s sound), but they quickly revealed themselves to be more than capable of a variety of sounds, with the anthemic “Empire” and nearly dance track “Got Me Wrong” just two examples. After over six months silence Alpines have come back strongly with “Oasis,” a smooth, tropical-tinged rumination on love lost which boasts.

“Oasis” is the title-track from Alpines’ debut album, due May 26. Check it out below.
