Video: Travi$ Scott ft. A$AP Ferg - "Uptown"

The striking 8-minute cinematic visuals for Travi$ Scott’s WondaGurl-produced “Uptown” are unlike anything you’ve seen this year. It begins with Scott’s definition of the word monster appearing on the screen: “inexhaustible original beauty.” Then for the first minute and a half, it flashes between shots of a crime scene in the making and Scott’s twitching, lanky body standing in the middle of a room as he slips into some type of drug-induced psychosis. The choppy video, which cuts the track for random slow motion segments, turns even more demonic as a menacing gang violently attacks a corner store while Scott kidnaps a random woman walking nearby outside. Toward the end, A$AP Ferg appears in X-ray form to deliver his verse.

Nothing makes sense, but it fits right into the G.O.O.D. Music aesthetic. In addition to starring in the video, Scott also directed it himself. “Uptown” comes off Travi$ Scott’s debut EP Owl Pharaoh out now. He’s also featured on the song “Vulnerable” off Tinashe’s newly released Black Water mixtape.
