If Alternative Trap was the first time you heard teenage Chicago rapper Lucki Eck$, it was probably a moment. Maybe it wasn’t your style, maybe you were hoping for sinister bass and aggressive hi-hats, but even if you were disappointed, it was a moment. It was different. That mixtape title was misleading, because the pensive kind of hip-hop Lucki Eck$ is making is far from trap. It feels worlds apart from so much of the other noise coming out of Chicago right now, but if different is something you’re looking for, you can count on Lucki Eck$. (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?)
