Let the mind-boggling popularity of Lorde be summed up in this little anecdote. A short while ago, Lorde shared her latest set of visuals for “Team,” which appears on Pure Heroine, through her Facebook page. A short while later, Lorde was forced to tweet, “i think you’re all overloading the video… let it breathe! hehe” because the video wasn’t working. Fans were all overwhelmed with this news, excitedly clicking away at the link; this, coming from a girl who just started her Facebook page only a year ago. And even almost an hour later, the video still isn’t working.

this video was borne from a dream i had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen. i dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. and of this world, i dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger. enjoy xx
