Rising Singer and Damon Albarn Collaborator The Child Of Lov Has Died at Age 26

Sad news this morning, as NME confirms that The Child of Lov has died at age 26.

Born Martijn William Zimri Teerlinck, The Child of Lov released his self-titled debut album in June this year, after gaining considerable buzz from anonymous Soundcloud updates in 2012. The album was an impressive record that mixed pyschedelia and soul, and promised an exciting future for the 26 year old singer/songwriter. Damon Albarn and MF DOOM also featured.

The Child of Lov’s manager, Trey Reames, released this statement:

“On behalf of the family and as his manager I must announce that Martijn Teerlinck, aka Cole Williams, aka The Child of Lov, aka Sun Patzer, is no longer with us. He lived a life of struggle and can now rest peacefully. In his own words: ‘When I was younger, I had a tough time physically. I have seen too many hospital beds. It made me stronger. Makes you realize death is always near, for anyone. And what a wonderful thing life is and how grateful we should be.'”

Earlier this year, The Child of Lov cancelled all his live shows, which included Glastonbury, but he was scheduled to perform in Belgium this weekend. More information about the tragic news as and when we have it.
