Songwriter and producer Nate Connelly recently scored the music for a horror/thriller film called Rigor Mortis, and while this gentle ballad doesn’t elicit the sort of feelings you might expect from that sort of movie, it does have a sense of the cinematic in it’s spacious, delicate production. Starting with a simple piano section, the song builds slowly, with ambient washes and spare percussion spinning a gentle web around the repeated line, “I don’t mind where I lay my head, as long as it’s with you.”
At once mournful and hopeful, “You Echo” is an impressive introduction to Connelly. Listen below.
