Hearing Benjamin Clementine’s “Cornerstone” for the first time is a wonderful shock. Nothing really prepares you for his raw, soulful voice, especially where it goes in the song’s chorus. Listening to “I Won’t Complain,” there isn’t that same immediate element of surprise, but there should be the realization that Clementine didn’t just stumble across a winning formula on “Cornerstone,” as this is another memorable, powerful, emotionally honest song.
We’ve already seen this song performed live on French TV, and now we’re pleased to premiere the EP version of “I Won’t Complain.” Benjamin Clementine’s Cornerstone EP is out already in France, where he has been living, but will be released in the rest of the world in January.
