Last night at Dance Tunnel in London, Madlib decided to put on a last-minute show, and getting in wasn’t easy. Fans who heard about the event showed up and waited in line for hours, but those that managed to attend were treated to a few surprises. Madlib announced the show on Monday morning—the morning of the show—and brought along friends Paul White, Mr Beatnick, and Benji B. But it was a couple of surprise guests that really got people talking: MF DOOM and Mos Def (Yasiin Bey).

Mos Def got on stage for a freestyle, and according to at least one person in attendance, Madlib played new Madvillain material. Earlier this year, Madlib told Rolling Stone that he had finished all the beats for Madvillainy 2 and was waiting on DOOM, but he didn’t sound too optimistic about the new album coming out any time soon. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, but with DOOM, it’s always a bit of a guessing game.
