Lunice: 10 Songs I'm Listening To Right Now

1.

Lunice really blew up last year making hard-hitting, maximal dance music as part of TNGHT, but the Canadian producer had been killing things for years, playing high-energy shows and releasing two brilliant EPs on LuckyMe, as well as lots of great remixes. Lunice's music has always mixed hip-hop and dance music, and he's continuing to bring the two worlds together on his current tour with Rockie Fresh, before releasing his debut album in 2014.

Lunice and Rockie's tour hits the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival tonight at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, alongside The Blessings, Evian Christ, and S-Type. This is a big, bad lineup, so if you're in NY, you should definitely think about hitting the show tonight. Hey, you might even see me there in my pigeon mask.

Check out the rest of Lunice and Rockie Fresh's tour dates below, and click through the slides to find out what 10 songs Lunice is listening to right now, ranging from Big L to Miles Davis to death metal (yeah, seriously).

11/8 - Brooklyn, NY - BEMF

11/9 - Montreal, QC - 3643 St. Laurent APt 200

11/10 - Ottawa, ON - Ritual

11/11 - Toronto, ON - Tattoo

Red Bull Music Academy Shows:

11/20 - San Francisco, Ca - DNA Lounge

11/21 - Portland OR - Branx

11/22 - Seattle, WA - Nectar Lounge

11/23 - Honolulu, HI - Next Door

2. AZ Ft. NAS - "Mo Money, Mo Murder (Homocide)"

I will never get sick of this song. Classic.

3. Big L - "Put It On"

This is the jam! I sometimes slip this into the end of my set just to let them know.

4. Roc Marciano - "76"

Amazing rapper and producer. He's of a rare breed of real NY rappers. I'm honoured to have shared our stage with him that last time we had a TNGHT show in Brooklyn.

5. Aaliyah - "We Need Resolution"

I constantly go back to this song in hopes that I will understand the instrumental better. This, to me, is one of Timbaland's best work. I will forever be inspired by this track. Timeless.

6. Skinless - "The Optimist"

Death Metal, to me, is the perfect way to clear your mind from listening to too much of the same music. The drums are ridiculous too, another reason why I'm into this.

7. Miles Davis - "Autumn Leaves"

Shout out to my homie Kevin Ly. He showed me this song and this is what forever got me deep into Jazz. Miles is the man.

8. Pusha T - "Numbers on the Boards"

Best Ye beat period. King Push is perfect for this.

9. Kanye West - "Send It Up"

This track to me reminds me of a night that me and my homies did in Montreal called Turbo Crunk 5 years ago. This sounds like a dope Megasoid joint. I love it!

10. Drake - "Worst Behavior"

I'm huge on space, clarity and simplicity in songs. This is a great example of it.

11. S-Type - "Billboard"

Also part of the LuckyMe collective, this beat always gets me on my feet and back to the drawing board. So well composed and structured.
