I won’t go ham on my continuing “why you shouldn’t fear the term EDM” this week, but I will tell you that I’m thankful that you lot are still rocking with me. We’re a little over a year of my weekly EDM recap posts. And while they’ve gone through a few machinations, the quality has always been there. And until the chief tells me to STFU, I’ll be here, going in. Thank YOU for sticking around!
Major Lazer & Moska ft. RDX – “Lose Themselves”
That heavyweight EDM/dancehall hybrid sound isn’t going anywhere, not as long as Major Lazer is still rocking it.
Chromeo – “Sexy Socialite (Salva Remix)”
Salva’s on point when it comes to that club-ready soundtrack that won’t alienate the hanger-ons. This remix is proof positive of how vital he is to the American dance music scene.
Childish Gambino – “Telegraph Ave (Ta-ku Remix)”
Solid, spacey Bmore rework of Gambino’s latest from Australian beatsmith Ta-ku.
Destiny’s Child – “Bills, Bills, Bills (Harmonimix)”
Drunken quirk from the magnificent mind of James Blake.
Cashmere Cat – “With Me”
Cashmere Cat’s been making moves this year, but this forthcoming LuckyMe EP is going to throw him over the threshold.
What So Not – “Jaguar”
Flume isn’t just deep beats for Internet streets; he’s in a crew with Emoh as What So Not, and getting massive trap-ified tracks signed to Skrillex’s OWSLA. Fuck with it.
Chris Malinchak – “If U Got It”
I have a rule: if Confusion fucks with it, you know it’s good. Thus, make Chris Malinchak a part of your life.

Future – “Honest (DJ Rashad & Gant-Man Remix)”
If you didn’t spend a part of your 2013 talking about shit while “just being honest,” I don’t know how you spend your time. Rashad and Gant-Man footworking on a Future track is the shit, I’m just being honest.
Chrome Sparks – “Lookin At Me”
I’ll admit, this shit is very quirky, but it’s also undeniable.
YOGI – “Christian Bale”
Such a perfect sample in the beginning. Such a hypnotic beat that drops. Pure leftfield hip-hop slop, from the label that Skrillex runs. Yup.
Bro Safari x UFO! x Jesse Slayter – “Beat It Up”
Massive 100BPM banger. It samples a horse. You’re making huge mistakes if you sleep on this.
Milo & Otis – “Pigeons”
C’mon, I had to. Some people are eating turkeys; real gangstas dine on pigeons. No diss.
Dim Mak’s Thanksgiving Dinner Roll Sampler
You hate on Steve Aoki? We have a feeling this sampler of bits from his label Dim Mak will have you second-guessing your hatred.
