Last week, I questioned the care people have over the term “EDM.” I have to say, the stock people put in that term kills me. Break down what the acronym stands for, then tell me how it doesn’t apply as an umbrella term for dance music. You getting wrapped up in a buzz term that clueless journalists came up with, while you see the obvious real that’s being provided is comedy. If you wanted to get technical, we could go ham on the different genres, sub-genres, and sub-sub-genres if you want, but why not just give you an idea of what you’d be expecting, then section it off for those who give a fuck? Just saying, stop tripping.

Baauer & RL Grime – “Infinite Daps”

Baauer and RL Grime made this on the bus during their “Infinite Daps” tour, which was recently turned into a documentary. It was available for free, but if you were slow, you’ll have to cop it on this compilation later this month. Revel in it’s popping bass beauty, doe.

Chromeo – “Sexy Socialite (Boys Noize Remix)”

This was a certified anthem in many hoods worldwide, and ATL bass beast Mayhem put a solid edit on this to make it knock even harder, especially for the turnt set.

Joker – “Deserted Island”

The whole of Joker’s forthcoming Head Top EP is mint, but there’s something about this track that sets it apart from the bunch.

Congorock & Nom De Strip – “Minerals”

When people think “electro house,” the immediate thought is what people would classify as “stereotypical EDM.” We don’t do that around here. Sure, this is an electro house record, but it’s not about some insane drop; this is just a stone cold groove that you can’t deny.

A mysterious new producer on a mysterious new label making some deep, dark, and amazingly soulful house? Check please.
