Back in the winter of 2012, an anonymous singer and producer named Bayou dropped a song and video called “Cherry Cola.” It was a gentle, dreamy R&B song, intimate and personal, and followed up by the funkier but no less delicate “Forever Deluxe,” suggested an artist who could be on his way to big things. Today, Bayou is back with “everybodysgottalearn,” his most direct and impressive song to date. It’s as if the singer is stepping forward out of the smoke and mirrors, with his vocals less hazy, and the production crisper and clearer.
