On the heels of driving, determined lead single “Odyssey,” stylish New Zealand rap-rock trio The Wyld puts out Abstract, a six song EP that culls new material and a song from their free debut album Preface to create a succinct encapsulation of their genre-blending sound. Abstract is the group’s most refined effort yet, adding a new coat of polish and scaling back some of Preface‘s sprawl into something a bit more streamlined and hook-oriented (particularly on standout song “Wake Up”), though no less recognizable as the enjoyable brew the band has been cooking up since we were introduced to them last summer.
