We were introduced to London singer Kwabs by Jessie Ware, who Tweeted about his stunning “Spirit Fade,” which was produced by her frequent Ware (and Kwes) collaborator Dave Okumu. For “Last Stand,” Kwabs has linked up with another great producer, the fast-rising SOHN, who has recently produced for Banks and is currently working on his debut album which is scheduled for release in 2014.
The synth-heavy production on “Last Stand,” especially the song’s climactic final third, would overwhelm many singers, but Kwabs’ voice reaches glorious, intense highs here, reminding us just what we were so excited about when we first heard him. Listen below, and prepare to be amazed.
