The Acid are a mysterious band. Look! They’re so mysterious that they have black plastic bags on their heads.

All jokes, and knowledge of who these people are, aside, The Acid released a brilliant four-track EP earlier this year, all full of gentle vocals and muffled electronics, and today shared a suitably grainy video for the outstanding EP opener “Animal.” The singer’s falsetto is immediate and arresting, and the production is stunning, with twinkling delicacy suddenly blown away by rumbling bass and pounding drums. There’s enough variation across the EP to show that The Acid didn’t just stumble on a special formula for one song only, and they have the kind of sound that could definitely propel them to big things.

If only they’d take that damn black plastic off their heads.
