Cage returns with a track that will not be featured on his upcoming Kill The Architect release. “This Place” is beautiful track regardless, with a beat produced by Mighty Mi & Slugworth that starts off lulling you into a trance with church organs that are quickly interrupted by the a voice: “Fuck, I just died” Cage says, presumably setting the scene for another piece of dark rap, gothic beats matched by midnight-black lyrics.
But then the chorus comes, replete with soaring strings that are, for lack of a better word, uplifting. They’re still distorted and detached, but Cage is displaying an ability to make music that has hills and valleys, that can take you different places. Kill The Architect is out October 22nd.
