You may be familiar with the name Edward Snowden: he’s the former CIA and NSA (National Security Agency) employee who has leaked documents from the NSA that detail top-secret and extensive surveillance programs used by the U.S. In the wake of his actions, a debate has risen between those who feel the U.S. should monitor citizens for the sake of security and those who feel these actions are not only wildly intrusive but unconstitutional.

With the release of “Party at the NSA,” YACHT has firmly placed themselves in the midst of the latter group. The track is an up-beat makeshift anthem that urges listeners to fight against he unwarranted surveillence and wiretapping of U.S. citizens by the NSA. The track is available on their website for a pay-what-you-want donation, of which the profits will be donated to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, an organization leading the crusade against the NSA’s program. “We live much of our lives online; we should be outraged by the extent of the NSA’s domestic spying programs,” the band says. “Instead, we are sinking into a dangerous indifference. Insidious forces are at work. Help us reverse the entropy.”

You can listen to the track below, and help donate via their website here.
