Unknown, the mysterious Irish beatmaker with a face full of mist, has re-emerged today with an equally strange and enticing video for his (her? its?) track “Blame.”
The video initially plays out like an early first-person computer game, back when you booted up Windows 95, waited for the dial-up to connect and got giddy when you could move you avatar left AND right. Here, we follow some spacecraft through the dark as it moves into cyberspace, trailing red and pink exhaust in its wake. But the video takes a turn when our brave little ship encounters an asteroid field of intensely detailed polyhedrons, recalling the endless desolation of 2001 and matching the moody weight of Unknown’s sound perfectly.
