What’s it like to be R. Kelly? Would you eat a lot of steak? Point at people everywhere? Ride skateboards in department stores? The new video for Kelly’s “My Story” gives us a peek inside the life of a beautiful mind, compiling footage from Kelly’s past and present to give an account of…his story.
Concert footage, cell phone shots, home videos, and grandiose black & white shots of Chicago come together to make the video feel like a curtain call, a flashy deep bow to himself. I guess after 25 years you’re due one or two deep bows. 2 Chainz is featured on the track but doesn’t appear in the video (because this is Kelly’s story, not yours. Not anybody elses). “My Story” is a cut off the upcoming Black Panties LP. Stream the video below:
