Video: M83 - "Claudia Lewis"

M83 is known for having an epic, celestial feel to their music; it’s what made Anthony Gonzalez a perfect choice to compose the soundtrack for Tom Cruise’s sci-fi thriller Oblivion. Now we see this idea expanded on once again with the video for their Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming track, “Claudia Lewis.” The clip depicts the story of a high-school romance between a blue-haired girl (who may or may not be some sort of extraterrestrial) and an unassuming student.

The visuals were directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, who says they drew inspiration from David Bowie’s “The Man Who Fell to Earth,” telling Vogue, “We were toying around with the idea of giver her orange-ish hair [like Bowie’s] . . . but we wanted to go for something that was truly otherworldly.” Lily Collins stars in the clip, which was released by MTV as part of their Supervideo series.
