“Prisms” was a stunning introduction to Ides’ (real name Alanna McArdle) confessional, cathartic music, and she’s back again with another incredibly powerful song, “Chokehold,” which we’re happy to premiere. Starting off with the delicate combination of vocals and guitar that we fell in love with on “Prisms,” a fuzzy, reverb-heavy riff cuts suddenly through the stillness, providing a raucous contrast to Ides’ angelic, crystalline vocals. Moody, brooding, and utterly unforgettable, this song sees Ides on top, top form.
“Chokehold” is from a split 7″ with King of Cats coming out on Reeks of Effort on September 9.
