Mumford & Sons Poke Fun at Themselves in "Hopeless Wanderer" Video

None

Ready to make fun of the new Mumford & Sons music video? Well, they beat you to it. Ed Helms of The Office, Jason Bateman of Arrested Development, and Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte of Saturday Night Live star in the hilarious new video that manages to make light of the band’s own folksy image. For their track “Hopeless Wanderer” the visuals start out pretty close to what you’d expect for a Mumford tune—an old, rustic piano in a meadow, a shot of a banjo being pulled out of a case and a stand-up bass being readied.

Then, it becomes apparent that this isn’t Mumford at all—it’s Helms, Bateman, Sudeikis and Forte putting on a parody show—and it just works. Memorable moments include when the entire bands plays in a boat and when the guys wipe away each other’s tears, and of course Forte’s massive gray beard. Shouts to Mumford for being chill enough to officially mock themselves. The band wrote on their website of the video: “A massive pair of thumbs-up to Sam Jones for directing and his cast of young budding actors. We’re sure they all have bright futures ahead of them.”
