Lolo is a Tennessee transplant that has landed in the musical mecca of Brooklyn. She seems to like it just fine — her new track “Year Round Summer Of Love” is the kind of affirming piano-based soul-funk that has all the instruments, voice included, moving together in ecstasy.

It’s a sound that definitely looks to the likes of Janelle Monae and Amy Winehouse for vocal cues, but Lolo has combined the two and made something all her own rather than just bite off one or the other.
