BADBADNOTGOOD have made a name for themselves creating remixes that flip the script on their original inspiration, from Gucci Mane‘s “Lemonade” to their darkly beautiful rendition of Kanye’s “Flashing Lights.” The jazz-punk trio is back at it today with an deliciously evil remix of JJ DOOM‘s “Guv’nor.”
They break up DOOM’s verses with some samples detailing an unnamed carnivorous threat to humanity whose “preference is children.” It gives the track just enough pause to make its 2:51 runtime plenty long, leaving space for builds and time for that dirty synth bass to swell up to the front. “Guv’nor” is the latest cut off JJ DOOM’s Key to the Kuffs: Butter Version LP.
