Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips have released new visuals for the haunting “Turning Violent” off The Terror. The slow build of the song is mirrored by a strange ritual involving reflective ponchos and lots of sand, keeping meanings and intent obscured between tight shots of the band and their instruments.
The video’s grainy, bad-film filter gives the whole thing a nice horror movie vibe, like a home movie that could suddenly burst into flames. Add that to the band’s penchant for light shows and explosive sound and you’ve got yourself a classic music video in the Flaming Lips’ catalogue.
