Chance the Rapper’s SAVEMONEY crew have benefitted from the recent media blitz surrounding the release of Acid Rap, but his affiliates are talented on their own as well. For “Won’t Not” Kami de Chukwu flips Joey Purp‘s “Don’t Stop” and adds his own lyrics to the classic boom bap production.
Chukwu plays his rhythms off the flute sample that’s in the forefront of the track, bouncing violent syllables off the mellow organ and back-beat. But his words lament the violence that surrounds their circle—in a similar vein to Chance’s own reflections on “Paranoia” and “Acid Rain.”
