Canada's Polaris Music Prize Releases Short List for 2013

The Polaris Music Prize, Canada’s annual celebration of the best in homegrown music, has cut its nominees down to the final ten. The breadth and scope of selections is pretty wide, ranging from the huge woodwind meditations of Colin Stetson to Purity Ring’s pitch-shift electronica. The prize honors the best full-length Canadian album released in the last year, as judged by a board of over 200 Canadian journalists, bloggers, and broadcasters. Industry heads and those with financial ties to the artists are left off the selection committee.

Past winners include Caribou, Arcade Fire and Feist. The gala to announce this years winner goes live on September 23rd. Check out the full short list below:
