Nothing says '90s alt rock like splicing your music video with clips from the movie it's featured in. Goo Goo Dolls nailed it. The band originally wrote "Iris" for Nic Cage and Meg Ryan's hit movie "City of Angels," so it makes sense that they decided to add images in from the film. What doesn't make sense, is how they did it. The band decided to have lead singer John Rzeznik watch these clips out of some magic telescope. Which is like LOL Goo Goo Dolls, that is just NOT possible. But then you get over the video's lack of logic because it's the '90s and Rzeznik is spinning in a chair in a room of telescopes watching a Nic Cage movie and life doesn't really get much more alt rock than that.
