Wavves’ new video for their smash-and-grab track “That’s On Me” preys on a familiar concept: Get some things that slice, get some sliceable materials, then slice the sliceable materials with the things that slice. If this ever gets old, it will not be in my lifetime.

The band found a dad-ish, slightly pedophilic looking baby boomer with a burgeoning gut to wield the swords and axes and stood back to let Mother Nature do the rest as a trio of cheerleaders provide some screaming reinforcement. Things get nice and weird with the introduction of some flesh for the grand finale, and the whole thing plays out in at a surprisingly peaceful slow-motioned pace. The visuals match up perfectly with the big, loud, messy sound Wavves exudes. Let a fat man destroy shit. It’s a timeless American classic.
