Video: Bishop Nehru - "Muffled/M.I.C."

16-year-old Bishop Nehru is a rising New York rapper who displays a knack for other art forms through his latest video “Muffled/M.I.C.” The visuals were entirely shot, directed and edited by Nehru, who also decries the low quality that results from uploading a video to Youtube. His sound feels very New York, hinting at jazz and even lo-fi soul samples in the production style—what it most reminds me of is really old stuff from Earl Sweatshirt when he was recording under the moniker Kitchen Cutlery.

About halfway through the song switches to black and white and a new beat, for which Bishop adopts a totally new flow. He’s definitely a talented rapper, time will tell if he can solidify his sound into something that’s markedly his own. Read his note about the video below and keep an eye out for his project, strictlyFLOWz out on July 23.

“Whats Good My Niggas Im Dropping A New Video Today. It’s Actually The First Video Off Of My Next Project “strictlyFLOWz” That Shit Coming Out July 23rd. Youtube Really Did Fuck Up The Quality Of The Video. But Thats Nothing New. I Still Think People Will Fuck With It. Word Yo So All You Guys Be On The Look Out For Something A Little Later. Btw. I Directed, Shot & Edited This Video. MUFFLED/M.I.C.”
