Natasha Kmeto has been slowly dropping tracks from her forthcoming record Crisis, but now the singer, songwriter and producer’s second album is streaming in full via Hype Machine. Part of the Northwest electronic music collective Dropping Gems, Kmeto has been slowly unfurling her rhythm-heavy sound tinged with plenty of electric flourishes and noise influences. The most compelling thing about her music though is the way she pairs her lush vocals with the sparser electronic production, it’s a strange contrast between her thick voice and the spiny production, but one that works in fascinating ways.
