Passion Pit‘s Michael Angelakos has been open about his experience with mental health issues. When he missed tour dates because he was receiving treatment for bipolar disorder, he decided to explain what was really going on. Instead of hiding it, he engaged in discussion, taking the conversation to interviews, to Twitter, and sparking a reaction from fans, media, and others who could relate.
Because of his work helping to spread mental health awareness, Michael was honored at the Erasing The Stigma Leadership Awards and given the Beatrice Stern Media Award.
