The other night I saw Portugal. The Man perform in New York City. The biggest surprise—aside from two Beatles covers and an insane laser show—was the fact that over half of the audience seemed to know every word to every song. The band had no problem bringing enough volume prevent from getting overwhelmed by the sea of singing mouths, but any time the music cut off and it was just John Gourley and the crowd singing, there was a pretty incredible energy filling the room.
Portugal. The Man’s Danger Mouse-produced album Evil Friends comes out June 4, and from what we’ve heard so far, this one is going to be fun to sing along with. Watch the new “Atomic Man” video above.
