Still Parade - "Actors"

stillparade

There’s not much information out yet on Still Parade, but their first release “Actors” is enough to stand on it’s own. Subtle finger-picking and wandering bass lines meet streams of woozy electronic sound that never overpower the acoustic feel of the track. The track debuted over at Earmilk, who report that it’s the first taste of an album that’s been three years in the making—the care that’s been taken shows.

Hushed, closely-knit harmonies evoke the ancestry of this song, touchstones like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and modern contemporaries like Phosphorescent are present here. But there’s something unique in the juxtaposition of muted, howling strings and the lonely guitar lick that makes up the backbone of the track. Stream the song below and read the Oscar Wilde quote that the band chose to present with the song below.

“Actors are so fortunate. They can choose whether they will appear in tragedy or in comedy, whether they will suffer or make merry, laugh or shed tears.” —Oscar Wilde
