The fact that Chris Ward aka Tropics’ own voice appears only fleetingly in “Don’t You Know” make them all the more powerful. The track starts with a gently jazzy feel, but evolves and morphs as mellow keyboards rise and fall before Ward’s emotion-filled vocals tell us “my body can take no more.” The use of a wistful vocal sample only adds to the slow moving beauty of a song which floats serenely, unobtrusively past, like a speck of dust in a sunlit study.
