With the end of 30 Rock, Alec Baldwin has now shifted his talents from screen to radio, as he recently signed on to host Here’s The Thing for WNYC. Baldwin has already had his fair share of high profile guests but today the actor has posted one of his most intriguing pairings: an interview with Radiohead/Atoms For Peace frontman Thom Yorke. During the hour long program, the two discussed politics and the environment, how Thom started using a computer to make music, Yorke’s passion for painting, his relationship with producer Nigel Godrich and the key to Radiohead’s longevity. Thom also touched on how he recruited guitarist Ed O’Brien for Radiohead, simply (and in very Yorke fashion) saying “I got Ed [O’Brien] because he was dressed like Morrissey and he had some cool socks, and I saw he had a guitar. I had no idea whether he could play or not. I didn’t really care.” Listen to the whole podcast below, and read the transcript here.
