TOKiMONSTA (real name Jennifer Lee) is back with the lead single off her upcoming debut Half Shadows being released on Ultra Records. The Los Angeles native is one of the most exciting female artist/producers out there today, and “Go With It” features synth-pop duo MNDR (of “Bang Bang Bang” fame). If this song is any indication of what is to come on TOKiMONSTA’s album, it’s something to look forward to.
“Go With It” is an ambient, R&B-infused soundscape that flows through speakers like smoke from the tip of a cigarette. The vocals are subtle but strong, layered over the beating of a conga drum—an instrument that I feel is sorely underused. This one is definitely going to be in heavy rotation.
