On the remix of The Neighbourhood’s “Let It Go,” Ghost Loft showed his ability to balance a pop accessibility with something a little more dismal. For “Seconds,” he continues on this path with an even clearer sense of purpose. The production has a bounce to it, but it’s a dark bounce, and with the Burial-type vocals on the chorus, the track takes on a cold tone despite the handclaps and hummable melody. In 2013, there’s certainly a place for gloomy-but-catchy pop, and Ghost Loft is doing it right.
Ghost Loft is Danny Choi, who resides in Koreatown, Los Angeles. He’s got an EP coming later this year and U.S. and U.K. tour dates starting in April.
