Troumaca - "My Love"

1.

Warm, summery vibes on Troumaca’s “My Love,” which has a touch of Friendly Fires’ about the vocals, and a bright but slightly baleful melody that I can’t help but associate with Ruff Sqwad’s classic grime production “Functions On The Low.” Is this the first journalistic instance of tropically tinged pop being compared to grime? Who knows.

Anyway, “My Love” is the perfect tonic for any weather induced January blues, and mark Troumaca out as another great Birmingham band to watch out for, along with Peace and Swim Deep. “My Love” will be released in February on the Virgin Island EP, on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label.
