Sometimes when we look back music of the ’80s, it is in an endearing but half-joke kind of way. We yell “I LOVE ’80s music!” while drunk and fist-pumping to “Livin’ on a Prayer,” but the ’80s weren’t just about over-the-top anthems to a flawlessly victorious Throwback Thursday party.
CYMBALS takes some of the best elements of the ’80s, including aerobic synths and excitable Robert Smith-esque vocals for “The Natural World.” Best of all, they pull it together without going off the deep end, making this highly enjoyable but not at all corny.
