Though we were certainly sad when Girls split as a band, as soon as we heard some of frontman Christopher Owens’ solo material we were immediately intrigued by the delicate guitar playing and mellow romanticism. Owens’ unpretentious, personal lyricism is even more front and center here than it was in Girls, and this gentle, breezy record, written about a single relationship, is a good demonstration of his undeniable songwriting talent.
