“Ig’nant II” marks another impressive entry from Chicago’s Kami de Chukwu and a reminder that it’s not simply what you say, but how it’s said. In the first half of the brief track–an emotional take on Chicago’s current condition–de Chukwu exhibits a lithe, demonstrative flow, bouncing off the beat and mimicking sounds in the production (produced by Hudson Mohawke for the 10th anniversary edition of Grand Theft Auto III) to impressive effect. Perhaps more notable, de Chukwu uses his technique to present an impressionistic take on a violent climate so difficult to capture. Give “Ig’Nant 2” a spin below.
