With his Mad Decent released single “Ima Read” (and its popular accompanying video), New York rapper Zebra Katz introduced himself to a wider audience as a purveyor of sparse, insistant, eerie dance music. On “W8WTF,” Katz continues the trend, weaving paranoid visions across a somber synth beat. Katz brings the visuals to match, loading “W8WTF” with bad trip imagery, momentary shocks, and tremendous style to boot–something like Stanley Kubrick taking a wrong turn and finding himself at a fashion show.
