Tony Kanal called this song No Doubt‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The song does have a similarly jarring structure, jumping into sudden changes between verses and choruses, but it ultimately ends up as cartoonish mostly because of Gwen’s over-the-top delivery. Joining up with Diplo and exploring new sounds might have been a good idea in theory but so far, No Doubt’s comeback feels stale.
